“German Dental Volunteers Support Oral Health Program at Akuoro–Olupe Primary Schoo

German dental volunteers recently conducted a comprehensive dental outreach program at Akuoro – Olupe Primary school in Serere District. The initiative focused on improving oral health among pupils through preventive care and education.

During the program, the volunteers examined the teeth of all pupils, identifying common dental conditions and providing basic guidance where needed. In addition, toothbrushes were distributed to the learners to promote daily oral hygiene practices.

A key component of the outreach was health education. The team demonstrated proper tooth brushing techniques and emphasized the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, particularly early moring, after meals and before sleeping. Pupils were actively engaged and encouraged to adopt these practices in their daily routines.

This initiative marks an important step toward improving child oral health in the community. There is strong interest in continuing this collaboration, with plans to expand support to include more advanced dental treatments in future outreaches.
